Lippy Wednesday - Mac's Pink Nouveau

Hi all,

So this weeks lippy Wednesday is Macs Pink Nouveau.

without flash
with flash
Mac's Pink Nouveau is a beautiful bright shade. It's a bright barbie pink. It's a Satin finish and goes on quite opaque. I do love this shade but do find with my dry lips the satin finish can dry my lips and look patchy and flaky after about an hour. I do use lipbalm underneath and this does help a little and if I keep reapplying both it can look good through out the day.
I bought mine at my local Mac store for £13.50, it is also available on there website.

What do you think to this shade, I love it just wish I didn't suffer with dry lips so I wouldn't have to worry about the finish. Damn you lips!!

NOTD - For Audrey

Hi everyone.

How's your week been so far? This day has been never ending for me. So glad to just get into bed with my laptop and have some me time! I'm sure a lot of you feel the same after you have just "one of those days".

So I wanted to share another nail look I've been sporting over the past few days. I am in love!! For some reason I have never ever wore a green nail polish. I don't know why but when I saw this and loved it I realised I had no other greens in my collection. I bought it a while back but have been so into pinks lately that I just put it aside and kind of forgot about it. The other night Oscar asked if he could pick what colour I wanted on my nails so I let him and he choose this and I'm so glad he did (my boy did good).

I just love the colour. As you can see its a really creamy aqua. I find China Glaze polishes really nice to apply and always leave a nice finish. And with a good base and top coat mine can last a good 4-5 without chipping. I've had this on since Saturday and it's still going strong and for a change I'm not bored and wanting to change colour (which usually always happens with me after the 3 day mark).

I bought this from Amazon a while back for £5.95, here is a link if your interested in getting it.
I know this will be getting a lot of use from me over the spring/summer period.

My Carmine beauty box arrived today so will do a post on that tomorrow.

This or that Tag

Hi everyone, not done a TAG in a while so saw this and was tagged so wanted to post it x

Coke or Pepsi? Coke but only diet coke.

Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt? Neither really but if had to choose would be ice cream, don't think I've ever had frozen yogurt.

Clothes or Makeup? Make up. Been a plus size person I find clothes a tough thing to buy and feel everything I wear makes me look like a pregnant cow so just wear something simple and usually black, lol.

Hairspray or Serum? Depends what look I'm going for. If it's just straight I'll use serum but if want volume or curls then hairspray.

T.V or Book? Books but really loving True Blood and Sons of Anarchy on TV at the mo so can't miss them.

Pool or Beach? Beach Although not been on a "beach holiday" for 6 years now, roll on the honeymoon.

Water or Pop? Water, rarely drink anything else.

Sandals or Boots? Sandals but not in the winter, my tootsies would get too cold.

Purse or Backpack? Purse, I don't own a backpack.
Team Jacob or Team Edward? I was torn at first but after reading the books a million times I'm now Team Edward.

Wizards of Waverly Place or Hannah Montana? Neither.

Real shops or Online Shopping? Both but sometimes when you online shop especially for makeup the colours are never the same, plus love swatching all the makeup so much better to do it in a real shop.

Tennis or Football? Neither really as I like Rugby (most men in my family play this sport) but if have to choose to watch it would be football.

MAC or Maybelline? MAC all the way baby.

I TAG you all.

Chatty Chat

Hi everyone

Just a little chatty post tonight. So I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend, what did you get up to? Mine was a bit mixed, went to my little brothers new house on Saturday, he has just bought his first house with his partner and it's lovely, really proud of them. On Sunday I went for dinner with the other half, Oscar (my little boy), Brother and his partner and my Dad and his partner. It was lovely and really enjoyed having dinner as a family as someone is always busy doing something so it's hard for us to do something all together. Sunday afternoon was a bit sad as I went with my brother to rehouse his dog Max. Max is 1 and a beautiful black Labrador but has become so uncontrollable and hyper active that they have struggled with him and with moving into their home they made the hard decision he needed to go somewhere better for him where he could get more attention (they both work full time and are hardly home). I hate to see anyone I care about upset so was crying alot for a few hours. My brother was so heartbroken and it was very hard to see. It was the right thing to do and Max will be a lot happier as he has a bigger garden, children and another dog at the new home so I just keep thinking of that and I feel better.

Onto brighter things... I'm almost coming up to the 50 follower mark and am so happy about that. I only started blogging a month ago and never thought I'd come this far. Every time I see a new follower or comment it really lights up my day. I'm enjoying this so much and it's really become a lovely hobby. I'm going to do a giveaway once I hot 50 followers, nothing big but just something so show all my lovely followers my appreciation. Keep the comments coming, I love to interact with you all.

Just to let you know what I have coming up over next week or two. Got a China Glaze NOTD, February favourites, foundation review, Lipstick review on Lipp Wednesdays, face mask of the week, carmine beauty box review when it arrive and possibly an empties post as finishing up a few things. Anyone got anything they would like to see? Do you like the FOTDs and would like more of them? Not always sure people like my ugly mug popping up in posts, lol!

Hate picture free posts so just popped one in for good measure. This is what my blog button looks like. Would love it if anyone would like to put it on there blog, the code is on my blog sidebar.

So that's all from me tonight. Danielle x :)

Review - Mac Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick

Hello lovelies

I've been looking forward to getting this ever since I heard Nicki Minaj was collaborating with Mac. I've now got it so I wanted to let you know more about it if you haven't already managed to get your hands on this little gem.

So this time round the Viva Glam collaboration was with Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin (I love both of them but must admit I do have a huge girl crush on Nicki Minaj). All proceeds of the Viva Glam collection go to the Mac Aids Fund so makes me feel alot better knowing I'm spending money I shouldn't but at least it is going to a great cause. Ricky has a lip conditioner and Nicki has a lipstick. I haven't got hold of the lip conditioner and am not sure if I will yet but I definitely had to get my hands on the lippy.

without flash

with flash
So the lipstick is an almost neon pink with yellow undertones making the pink lean slightly corally. The touch of yellow makes it warm tone friendly. It's in the Satin finish. I love the colour and think it will come in perfectly for Spring/Summer for someone who loves a bright lip. Now it is bright, like I said almost neon and does go on quite opaque but could be toned down if just dabbed on, I've tried this and like the look it created. The only problem I have with it is the finish. I personally find the Mac satin finish lipsticks to be a tad drying and as I suffer from dry lips most of the time in can leave them looking not too nice but with some lip balm underneath or on top it does look a little better. All in all it's just what I expected from the collab and think the colour definitely screams Nicky Minaj.

It will be available at Mac stores and on the website in March for £13.50.

Barry M NOTD

Happy weekend everyone, hope everyone is well. I'm very excited today as I received my first ever Butter London nail polish and Macs Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick in the post this morning. Been looking forward to these arriving all week and there finally here. So looking forward to trying them out and will be posting about the Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick later. I will also do a review on the Butter London nail polish once I've had chance to try in out properly.

Had my nails done the other day and wanted to show you how they turned out. I'm really loving them, a little sparkle but not to much.

Two coats of Barry M Rasberry on all nails and then a Barry M silver glitter on ring finger. As always I used a OPI base and top coat. Hope you like.

Lippy Wednesday's - 1. Mac Lustering

Hi everyone.

So I've been having a think and decided I wanted to come up with some kind of weekly series for my blog to swatch and show my lipstick collection. I thought this might be good for people looking for a new lippy as they will get idea of colour, shade, etc. Also I just love lipsticks and have a fair few so will really enjoy doing these posts.

Well here is my first one and it's Mac's Lustering.

Mac's Lustering is a lovely bright but wearable shade. It's a bright fuchsia pinky red. It does look a bit scary in bullet form but it goes on a really lovely sheer colour which can be built up if required to create more of a dramatic look. It is a Lustre finish and goes on nice and silky and is not drying. I usually get about 2 hours wear which is average with any lipstick on me.

I bought mine at my local Mac store for £13.50, it is also available on there website.

So I hope you like the first instalment of "Lippy Wednesday's". What do you think to Lustering? I really love it and use it often.

Febuary's GlossyBox

Hello Everyone.

So yesterday my GlossyBox arrived.
Now you might have already seen posts on this but I still wanted to do one on this months Glossy box.
I'm sure everyone knows what GlossyBox is but for those who don't I'll briefly explain. It's a monthly beauty box that includes 5/6 samples and sometimes full size high end beauty products. The idea is to try items from the comfort of your own home and also maybe try products and brands you wouldn't normally buy or maybe can't afford. It 's also nice as a monthly gift to your self or maybe a loved one as they also offer gift subscriptions. GlossyBox is £10 pm + pp and is available from the GlossyBox website here.

So as you can see GlossyBox have gone back to the original light pink packaging. Now I must admit I loved both the Christmas red box and the last months bright pink box but I think if we had these every month we wouldn't appreciate the limited edition boxes so I am OK that the packaging is back to it's original form.

This months box is designed around London Fashion Week, "five fab essentials to keep you looking your fashionable best."

So as I've not had time to review all the individual products recieved in the box this will be more of a review on the box itself and a bit of information on the products included. I will be reviewing some of the products at a later date once I've given them a good try and feel I've used them long enough to be able to offer a real review of the individual product (let me know if there is any products you would especially like to see a full review on).

So onto the important stuff, what was inside:

So included in this months box were:
  • Duwops Venom Gloss - 5ml sample size in Buttercup - Full size 10.4ml £16 - A tinted lip gloss with DuWop's Lip Venom.

  •  Dr Bronner Magic Liquid Soap - Full Size 59ml worth £1.99 - A combination of organic extra virgin coconut, olive, jojoba and hemp oils, together with pure essential oils, creates a unique soap that cleans effectively without being aggressive and produces a velvety-lather that leaves the skin silky-smooth and refreshed. Apparently this can be used for loads of things and is a multipurpose product so I'll have to look into that and see what else it can be used for, anyone know?
  • Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Relaxing Balm - 25ml Sample Size - Full size 200ml £15.25 - This balm is designed to relax and control hair. Helps hair dry faster and helps fight frizz. Hydrates and moisturise hair from within.

  •  BM Beauty Pure Mineral Eyeshadow in Her Majesty - 1g sample size - Full size 2mg £7.00 - A cruelty free mineral eyeshadow. Her majesty is a pink with gold shimmer.

See the golden shimmer when caught in the light?

  •  Como Shambhala Invigorate Body Lotion - 50ml Sample size - Full size 300ml £20 - Full of a revitalising blend of essential oils this is ment to wake you up and make you fell more alive and in a "perfectly uplifted mood". I had a quick smell of this and it is divine, really lives up to the name as it's such a invigorating smell.

So that's the lot. I know a few people have been disappointed with this months box but I'm really pleased with it. The beautybox idea to me is to try out products and brands you wouldn't normally try and as I've not tried any of the brands in this box I am happy as it gives me a chance to give  new brands a chance and maybe find a new love.

Are you a subscriber of GlossyBox? What did you think?

Bye everyone, Danielle x :)

Review : Avon Shine Attract Lipsticks

Hello Everyone,

So today I'm going to talk about Avon's new Shine Attract Lipsticks. The lipstick comes in an option of 10 shades. I picked up Cherry Pie and Rose Bouquet.
What Avon say about their newest lipstick range "Coverage that's never sticky, creamy moisture and lustrous colour, deluxe silver packaging. Lasting, full-colour lipstick with an outer gel layer for sumptuous satin shine*. Non-sticky*. Layer up for greater intensity. SPF15"

I really liked the uniqueness that they have the lipstick colour running in the middle and a moisturising gel running around the colour.

Cherry Pie
Rose Bouquet

The packaging of the lipsticks is really simple but sophisticated. It has a clear top so is easy to see the product. It's slimline and really pretty to look at. I really like the packaging.
L-R Rose Bouquet, Cherry Pie
Now onto the product itself. Now both colours were slightly different so I'll talk about them separately.
Cherry Pie
Cherry Pie is a lovely pink shade. The formula glides on really nicely and feels more like a balm than a lipstick. The pigment was about 6/10 it leaves a lovely tint that can be built up with a glossy finish. It is very moisturising. I found it to last for about 2 hours.

Rose Bouquet
Rose Bouquet is more a peachy pink. The formula is very much the same and is very moisturising. The difference with this is that the pigment is not as much, about 4/10 but still leaves a slight tint with a nice glossy finish.

Now I did really like these but I wouldn't class them as lipsticks, to me there more of a glossy lip balm.

I bought these from my local Avon rep at the introductory price of £5 and think this is very reasonable. I think the normal price will be around £8.00.
Has anyone else tried these? What did you think?

NOTD - Avon Strawberry

Hi everyone

Have a nice weekend?

So today is just a quick NOTD I did last week with a new polish I got in my Avon Haul (post available here). The colour is Strawberry and it's a really lovely bright pink. I love love love this colour.
It's from the Speed Dry collection and like the name this polishes do dry really quickly.
I really like Avon nail polishes, they apply really nice, last a long time before chipping and are a really great price.

Without flash

With flash

As with most polishes I applied 2 coats and used a good base and top coat (I use OPI). The finish is so beautiful. These photos were taken 5 days ago and I'm still wearing the polish chip free which is amazing as I usually have to change my polish every 2-3 days.

I picked this and a few other colours up from my local Avon representative for £3 (bargain). Hope you like. I will be doing some more NOTD with the other colours I picked up.
